Learning Support Assistant, supporting in the classroom / 1:1 Support

Permanent, 20 - 26hrs per week, term time only

Grade 6, SCP 20 - 25,  £20,088 - £23,111 full time equivalent

Depending Upon Experience


We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our hardworking team. The post will involve working in partnership with the class teacher, supporting groups of children in the classroom and delivering planned learning to groups or individuals. In addition, the role may involve supporting pupils with specific learning needs on a 1:1 basis.

This will be a full time post working 20 – 26hrs per week, supporting pupils’ across Key Stage1 or 2.


Applicants will be required to:

  • Demonstrate good communication skills and empathy with children
  • Be enthusiastic, well-motivated and fully willing to support school life
  • Be extremely patient and flexible
  • Understand confidentiality, safety and safeguarding
  • Be a team player
  • Have a minimum of Grade C at GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent qualification
  • Have skills and the ability to manage children's behaviour
  • Show confidence in supporting children in their learning and their play
  • Be passionate about contributing to a culture of high expectations


The school has a strong ethos of inclusivity and liaises closely with Southampton Advisory Outreach Service and a range of other agencies to provide advice and resources to effectively support individual pupils.
