Year R - Ducklings

Autumn Term 2

Wow! What a busy few weeks we have had! Now the children are beautifully settled into school life we have begun teaching our phonic sounds, hopefully you will have noticed your children practising these at home with their weekly sounds sheets. We have learnt s,a,t,p,I,n,g,d,o,c,k,e,u so far and we know these as initial sounds really well, we are now moving on to making words out of the sounds we know. We are also learning to count, we have been practising counting all the way up to 20 and also matching objects to numbers.

You may hear the children talking about Bertie Bee and Tommy Tortoise: these are the learning characters we have been focussing on. The children are becoming very confident when telling us which character they are behaving like and why! See if you can ask them what they mean.

Autumn Term 1

In Ducklings we have settled into school life very quickly and all the staff are very proud of the children. This half term our topic is "All About Me" and we have had some fantastic homework sheets back that have enabled us to get to know the children, their families and their favourite things.

We have also been learning how to use our indoor and outdoor learning environment and to play together. Have a lot at how much fun we have been having on our first week at school!.
