Coronavirus update16.03.2020

16th March 2020

Dear Parents / Carers

We are all living in uncertain and worrying times at the moment and I would like to thank you for your continued support of the Principals across all of our Trust schools and the Nursery.

It is important to understand that the Trust wishes to do everything in its power to keep all the schools and Nursery open.  We see this as a priority for supporting the safeguarding and welfare of our children in addition to assisting the country in being able to continue to work.  However, we have to make decisions based on ever-changing information and recognising that, as the situation develops internationally, our risk assessment has to remain dynamic.  Our priority is always to our children and staff and we are endeavouring to make school life as normal as possible.

Guidance received from Government at lunchtime today states that:

  • Staff, young people and children should stay at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to avoid spreading infection to others from the start of the infection for seven days.  Otherwise they should attend education or work as normal.
  • If staff, young people or children become unwell on site with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they should be sent home.
  • Clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces more often than usual using your standard cleaning products.
  • Supervise young children to ensure they wash their hands for 20 seconds more often than usual with soap and water, use hand sanitiser and catch coughs and sneezes in tissues, disposing of them immediately and safely.

Further to meetings with the Principals and Central Trust staff this morning we have made the following decisions:

Cleaning - More frequent and deeper cleans will be carried out every day and all children will be washing their hands, under supervision, before going into class in the morning, at break and before and after lunch.  In the Nursery this will be more frequent where required.

After School Clubs – with effect from tomorrow (Tuesday 17th March 2020) all after school clubs will be cancelled until further notice.  This is to enable the site teams to give a thorough clean ready for learning the next day.

Trips – with effect from tomorrow (Tuesday 17th March 2020) all trips will be cancelled for the remainder of the academic year.  Our finance team will be working on either refunding any monies paid to date or transferring monies to trips which will take place from September 2020.  This will obviously take some time and I would ask that you remain patient during this period; we will be in touch.

Parent Consultation Evenings – All appointments will be cancelled.

Emails -  Please can you make sure that your current email address is correct on the school/nursery database as this will be the main contact link between you and the school/nursery.

Website – If there are any new updates we will release a statement on the website, followed by communication by letter.  Please can we respectfully ask that you do not ring the school for updates.

Vulnerable Groups – we are collecting information regarding vulnerable groups and the schools/nursery will be requesting information from you.   Please respond to any requests as soon as possible so that information remains current.

The Principals and I will be having virtual daily update meetings and when there are further revisions to the plan we will be in touch.

Thank you again for your continued support and understanding.  Working together we will all get through this – above all things, please be kind.

Warmest regards

Mrs Claire Lowe
