Dear Parents / Carers,
Re: Coronavirus update – school closure to most pupils
Following our last update, I am now writing to let you know that we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday until further notice.
As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, fire service and others in frontline services).
We will also be offering childcare for those children with a social worker or an Education, Health and Care Plan but please note, this will not include childcare for siblings of children with EHC Plan. Please also note, if any of these children have been self-isolating, they will not be allowed to return to school until 14 days after their first day of absence.
These children will not be required to wear school uniform while in school.
We need to emphasise that we are staying open to help the front line. If families do not need childcare, we cannot have children in school. Social distancing is the key for keeping our children and our staff safe. In addition, should we not have enough staff to manage the safety and well-being of all these children, we may no longer be able to provide this childcare. If this was the case, we would let you know as soon as possible.
All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards and make sure that you are social distancing.
Please note that this is a national closure – as you may have heard in the news – so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We will re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is by email, website and letter.
What we will continue doing while your child is at home
Your child’s learning is, of course, important to us, so we will continue to help your child to learn.
Children who will be off school will need to do the following:

Free School Meals:
For those families in receipt of free school meals, we are currently continuing to provide these every school day and families are encouraged to collect these from school; between 12:00 and 12:45.
Where families are self-isolating, we will try our very best to deliver these meals to their homes every day, providing we have enough available staff to do so.
Any children in receipt of free school meals who attend our childcare provision will receive these in school. All other children MUST bring a packed lunch with them.
Please note, from Monday, school meals will no longer be cooked in our school kitchen; instead they will be prepared off-site and delivered to school each day.
This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to deal with this unique and ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have a significant impact on you and your family and it is far from ideal, but we will continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops via e mail and the school website.
And remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.
Thank you again for your continued support; we will communicate tomorrow with more information.
Please take care all of you,
Sian Cook Headteacher
